things I knew I would be able to achieve so I wouldn’t get discouraged
failing to add anything to my assignments is a huge discouragement. that's the main reason I stay away from my homework and the same reason it took so long to apply to college

instead of not having a plan
this is really what trips me up with all my homework. but also I don't want to be logged into my gmail because I watch a lot of videos and I don't want the youtube algorithm recommending me more things the next time I log on
journaling
this is good because it gives you a moment to reflect on your day or at least put random shit onto paper. because writing is kind of artistic in nature it means you're putting your feelings out, but it's also one of the most available ways of self-expression. It's the same reason people draw.
walks
I'm surprised whenever I have the opportunity to walk alone because then I don't feel the pressure to talk to someone. it's very peaceful
made sure that I did something everyday
this is important just because doing nothing isn't necessarily equal to stress relief. people need some accomplishment however minor to get through. though you do need to get out of your way to do it, you're at least engaging in a manageable challenge and that creates a positive stress
planning ahead and creating a list of achievable tasks such as going on walks and meditating
cool, she learned more time management skills. I think the "going on walks and meditating" part helps establish a quiet routine that doesn't involve social pressure or the internet
planning ahead and believing that we will get it all done
time management is difficult
retake the whole course
sis, this is like the first test, unless this is the only test in the class you should be fine. your thought process is too far ahead of the curve
a bunch of ‘what if’ thoughts flooded my brain
I usually try to keep my head clear or tell myself that everything will probably be fine. then again that's only helpful if you have been paying attention in class
abilities to get quality work done
I procrastinate a lot for this reason, but especially starting this semester
Might you confuse other readers/viewers?
What if the reader just didn't get it, but you understand?
debt
did they mean die
poor
aren't poor and broke kind of the same anyway though
with no real way of ever not getting out of the trap
the double negatives in this sentence make it confusing. they could've just said "without any way of getting out"
asset limited, income constrained, employed
it's definitely a useful distinction that these people who are poor in resources and income are that way even when they have jobs. They're jobs aren't doing enough for them
What the?
fuck
alone
So basically people have different perceptions of the same thing and that affects how they interpret it
write as you read
a monologue?
hen you annotate, you write as you read
Is this meta yet?
what they have learned
I'd imagine the reluctance to do so often comes with drawn out texts that demand so much attention
, 46%
They're right. the percentages are making me dip out
read
is this specifically only thru reading. I mostly watch tv/ videos
our eyes move very rapidly
that reminds me of REM
_,abit
I feel a bit more habitual. I tend not to read things all the way thru because I get distracted easily (and I'm not much of a reader)
Payattentiontoallthetimesyouprocesswords
I notice that my mind skips over long lists...
twoassumptions
do people actually think a 5 paragraph essay is exclusively effective for arguing or understanding anything?
ingrained
I feel like the 5 paragraph essay is just a type of essay. It doesn't need to be fully unlearned, just acknowledged that it isn't the only way to write
onesetofrulesforgeneratinggoodwriting
Writing certainly has rules, but they're meant to be bent and broken, though it takes a bit of talent to do so. Rules in art are more like guidelines than hardset rules
nogoodessayeverusesthewordI
For a certain kind of essay yes. Unless I've been using I in the wrong kinds of essays
Writingwithoutatemplate
This'll be a difficult thing to take back

I guess this is where Dan is learning to teach us
wesimultaneouslyhavetoqnjeamsomethingfamiliar
Is this always the case or only mostly the case?
Buthowdoyoujuststartoffbeinginteresting
It's an option to just start without thinking then come back to fix it later. You've got a better idea of what you're writing and how you're writing it only after you've started putting ideas down.
whether and how one is inclined to use one’s skills
I mean, I sure can think through a prompt if I'm given one, but prompting myself to question what I know isn't always a guarantee
then reassuring one’s superiors that theresulting exploration overlaps with prescribed standards
The tough part is getting to the uninteresting parts, especially if lessons go on tangents from the kids' questions. The ability to invest students through their own curiosity is good, but making sure they come back to other necessary parts could be difficult
How do we implement this?” but “Should we be doing thisat all? Do such standards make it easier or harder to create lessons where students’ questions are atthe center?
Should there be more questions asked in this article about questions? Are the masters now the students!?
one-size-fits-all standards
As schools lend service to larger groups of people I feel it's inevitable that we'd find people who can't fit the typical mold simply because it becomes harder to teach the same things effectively as the group of students gets wider
virtually
I guess it'd be harder to work this type of lesson plan if everyone is a bit too similar, because while they're more likely to share common interests, they may not touch upon a wide enough range of topics
ushed to come upwith questions on the spot rather than given sufficient time to reflect on what they’d really like toknow
I feel like this is prone to happening sometimes even when the teacher aims to get to the heart of the student and their questions
Students are expected to dowhatever they’re told
Very relatable
except in the immediate instincts and activities of the child himself.
I feel like this is especially true now because kids have access to more info now with the internet than before. It reminds me that I heard the general IQ level has been increasing over time because kids are getting smarter overall (but I don't know if that's really true).
“I’llgive you time to experiment at recess
girl, you won't, recess is time for playing and eating snacks. also, when would anyone use tools that aren't already out; putting them away means no one would bother taking them back out
authentic assessments of theirunderstanding
I feel like the typical form of testing is done just because it's easier due to being standardized and a more in-depth assessment is avoided because looking at individuals is more time-consuming. That would also explain why facts are taught rather than pushing for discussion
answers.
Like when your family asks "so how's school?"
explore the role of questions in education by asking questions about theprocess of doing so
Dude, it's literally the first sentence and the paper is already getting meta by asking questions about questions
group teaching project
So we'll be teaching the class?
habits to ask questions
That'll be a hard one
other Englishes
Literally? Like different dialects or something?
