Now I have been thinking about the Negro and national defense and have come to the conclusion that something drastic has got to be done to shake official Washington and the white industrialists and labor forces of America to the realization of the fact that Negroes mean business about getting their rights as American citizens under national defense.

      Phillip Randolph was prepared to take action against racial discrimination in the defense industry. Randolph was prepared to March on Washington and was recruiting as many people as possible to participate on this event. Wanting to avoid disruption of wartime industries, Roosevelt signed an order that prohibited discrimination whether may it be based on race, religion or origin of any type.

      It seems to me that they were being forced to adopt to the American culture "way of living". They not only expected the Chinese to leave behind their roots and become accustomed to new ways but also infiltrated their businesses by breaking their windows and blaming them of theft, they were willing to fight them if they did not get what they asked for leaving the Chinese completely powerless.

      It is pretty obvious that they did not let Mamie Tape attend the school nearest to her home because of her race. The San Francisco Board of Education built a segregated Chinese school in order to prevent integration amongst races. I mean they went out of their ways to build another school in order to make sure that does not happen, that to me was such a waste of resources and time.
