I think the concept of weak ties discussed on here is really relevant and interesting. I do think people have a lot of loose acquaintances now compared to just 10 years ago. Even I keep up with some not so close friends and acquaintances through social media, and seeing their posts really reminds me of their existence. This phenomenon is one I think will continue to grow as time goes on.
