The tweet below does not accurately represent the event which I've come to understand. First, they misquoted Kinsley. Then, they say that Kinsley's parents were "hit by shots too" which subconsciously makes one think right off the bat that she was shot directly.

I did not know it was a confrontation. Some articles excluded this, simple stating that he had shot them after the ball rolled into the yard and when--I assume--they were attempting to retrieve it.

This is a detail left out by the first two articles. It's a pretty loud detail to forget, a declaration to kill someone is a pretty big deal.

This is definitely a topic of unusualness and human interest. Although I find it just as tragic and gruesome when an adult is shot by another person, it becomes an even bigger deal to the public and the media when a very young child is shot.

I had thought her mother had not been shot based on the stories and information on social media. This could be something worth noting for information left out. Perhaps the mother was in better condition than the other two so she was deemed as a less important detail. Everyone likes to report on the more severe stuff as it is more interesting to readers.

What is really interesting to me about this story is that it talks about three other similar shootings that have happened recently. Perhaps this is to emphasize the nation-wide issue of gun control.

This poll is very valuable as the concept of the in-person, long work days is become less and less popular. The only issue I can see in this is that getting a sample via telephone can pose its challenges.

As we discussed in class, surveys over the phone are great ways to get random samples. However, as we discussed, it can be hard to reach people nowadays since a lot of people don't pick up their phones for random numbers.

Now this is a fact. Whether or not it is a true statistic would need to be researched, but it is a statistical statement.

This is an assumption--maybe based on information, but mostly personal belief--that can only be confirmed by the GOP lawmakers themselves.

While I--and I think everyone else does too--agree that each school shooting is a horror, this is a loaded word that doesn't necessarily represent a stat or piece of fact.

"Laughably insufficient" is another very loaded, editorialized phrase.

This in itself is an opinion statement. It's not a statistic or factual statement, but rather a conclusion made by the journalist based on the information they gathered.

Human interest, not necessarily a huge deal. Obviously this event involves some international conflict, but the event itself is just kind of odd and doesn't necessarily indicate something big.

Timeless, this occurred just recently, which makes it more prominent news than if it were to have happened a month ago.
