    1. All of this is on account we want to register, to become first-class citizens, and if the freedom Democratic Party is not seated now, I question America, is this America, the land of the free and the home of the brave where we have to sleep with our telephones off of the hooks because our lives be threatened daily because we want to live as decent human beings, in America?

Fannie Lou Hamer was a strong and brave woman. She was a civil rights activist, a leader in the civil rights movement. She fought for equality despite the beatings. I cannot imagine what it was like to be beaten because you stood up for your rights. Like she said in the above statement. African Americans were so mistreated in those times. It is terrible that the African American were killed trying to have a better life and equality. Hats off for Fannie Lou Hamer, she stood strong and brave for everyone.

    1. We have a marvelous love for this Government of ours; in fact, it is almost a religion, and it is well that it should be, because we have a splendid form of government and we have a splendid set of laws. We have everything here that we need, except that we have neglected the fundamentals upon which the American Government was principally predicated.

Huey P. Long think that everyone should be treated equal regardless of their background. Whether you are poor, rich or in the middle. He think that the wealth should be spreaded to all types of people in all walks of life. If you are poor the the fortunate should share with you. That is not how the system work in america. If you are born into a family of riches and good fortune then yes you are a heir to their fortune. If you are born into poverty then yes you inherit poverty but you will be taught how to survive being less fortunate. Your family will teach you how to be independent as you get older. The rich just doesn't give away their fortune. They may give to the less fortunate through some type of organization. If you are born to the king and queen then yes you will inherit their fortune. If it is more than one siblings to the king and queen they are also included in the fortune. Money just don't grow on trees.

    1. In Booker T. Washington statements..."Water, water; we die of thirst" And the other statement..."Cast down your bucket where you are". Those statements symbolize that the blacks should humble themselves to the white man and any other races in order to survive and live a peaceful life. Make friends and be peaceful. In other words put your pride to the side and learn the ways of survival in the land you are living in. Booker T. washington is trying to say...Let go of the past and move forward. Don't let the past keep you from prospering or turn you bitter. Forgive and move on. W.E.B. DuBois does not agree on Mr. Washington's statement. He is against Mr. Washington's statements. Mr DuBois felt that the blacks should not have to give up their self respect , or go into submission and stop striving for their civil rights. W.E.B. DuBois states..." In answer to this, it has been claimed that the Negro can survive only through submission." He also stated "In the history of nearly all other races and peoples of the doctrines preached at such crises has been that manly self- respect is worth more than lands and houses , and that a people who voluntarily surrender such respect, or cease striving for it are not worth civilizing." Mr. Washington was trying to help his people to learn how to survive in these troubled times. Mr. DuBois believed that blacks should fight for their self- respect and their civil rights. They seem to be right in their own way.
