    1. Paraphrasing is the skill of keeping track of what we are hearing, organizing the speaker's points, and describing what we understand in our own words.

      It is important to have students share the paraphrased ideas by others. Sometimes this can turn into the "Telephone" Game where the main points were completely altered

      For many task oriented, "get the job done" teachers like me - this one is very hard. I really have to make a mental effort to slow down and talk about something other than the task at hand

    2. Remember—online learning inherently feels less personal than your physical classroom, so intentionally share something from your life, like photos of your family or pets, a favorite painting, or items that represent your interests or hobbies.

      Its amazing how students will remember any little bits or stories of my personal life that I share - far more than any content that I might teach

      I think this is really important for us to remember when embarking on improving culture - This is not an overnight thing. In certain groups of students, it might take a semester to achieve, especially this year. Patience and consistency is critical

    1. Pandemic or not, it’s always the right time to promote good health by exercising regularly, losing weight if necessary, eating right, getting enough sleep

      I've been putting off this for quite awhile. About a month (and 10 more pounds) into Covid, I realized that I can no longer use the "I'm busy" excuse. This has been a great chance for me to get healthy again
