      As faculty who are considering what it means to bring OEP into our classrooms in this particular moment (fall of 2025) this note about perpetrating harm unintentionally resonates with our conversations. Specifically, how do we balance the risks that are changing and evolving for putting information into the public sphere (eg. depending on your context individuals can be targeted)? What does the evolution of how AI uses our information that's publicly available mean for the risks of doing OEPs in our classes?

    1. What remains a challenge for systemic injustice in Wikipedia is the question of who gatekeeps and sets the rules for what counts as credible knowledge.

      How can we as faculty educate our students about the process of receiving feedback and working in an open space - when your work can be critiqued or changed in dynamic open spaces v. traditional peer reviewed process? How are we talking about the inherent risks involved and the gatekeeping processes that are different in a space like wikipedia compared to a peer reviewed publication?

      As faculty are working to bring in views and voices of marginalized/minority populations, how do we deal with students who express that they can't relate to material? what kind of guidance could we offer students as they are experiencing this? Similar to how students may find challenge engaging in critical dialogue with critical literature. Why does this occur for various students in different learning contexts, possibly fear of vulnerability?

    1. Critical Race Parenting (ParentCrit)

      I just did a basic FB search for Critical Race Parenting to see if there were any groups out there. Anyone have suggestions for groups that discuss this specific topic in a more social, less academic space?

    2. (1) too early is better than too late

      I struggle as a parent of a toddler (3yo) with the idea that we even use language like "curriculum" for what goes on in a child care center - but wouldn't it be great if these were considerations that could be more explicitly discussed for those settings? These caretakers are part of our family and they are integral to raising our kids - maybe it's just where I live it feels like critical race parenting questions just aren't explicit.
