    1. A Texas A&M commerce professor attempted to flunk over half of his senior class after using ChatGPT to test whether the students used the chatbot to write their papers. He copied and pasted the papers into ChatGPT and asked if it wrote them, to which it replied yes.

    1. Not only can a university turn Desk Scan on or off for the entire campus, for a department or for a full class, but also individually for students who raise a concern about privacy.

      Why not just have it off as a default?

    2. Proctorio has a strict data policy against such an act. The recordings we conduct are at the university's request and are shared only with the course's professor or other approved administrator. They cannot be downloaded and saved for unmonitored, offline viewing or forwarded to third parties. Other competitors of ours allow this, but it is a line in the sand we will not cross

      It's just incredibly weird to even think that a student is recorded at all during a test. Educators do not record students taking a test while in the classroom, it's a "live feed" if you want to put it into computer terms of the proctor in the room.

      Is it really engagement when you disable distractions? How does this prepare students to deal with something they struggle with when they do have the ability to distract themselves with other sites?
