This reminds me of Gilgamesh, and some other classic stories where the main character takes time away to 'wander' 'think' and 'reflect'
And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
I believe this represents more then just his physical nakedness and his lack of hair after his episode, Gob feels naked as he has lost everything.
