      questioning divinity/holiness. in comparison to how she viewed the green cockatoo very much alive and beautiful this is the complete opposite. I think she's saying like if god is so divine why can't he appeal to me as much coffee, oranges and birds. which are simple things so if like she's completely undermining god.

      When she starts to day dream her guilty conscience comes back and she thinks of some terrible "old" event I assume that has to do with Christianity in some way?

      i think this line means the image of the cockatoo on the rug is helping to "dissipate" that feeling of being guilty for not going to church. Or not not think about it. The word "holy" and "sacrifice" relating to Jesus.

      She says that she could never find a way to talk to "daddy" shows their relationship must have not been very good if should couldn't do that.
