he act would restrict the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to developing regulations based only on studies whose methods, materials, software code, and data were open and accessible.
But this can be used to move for a final push to openess in science.
-
In this environment, many are concerned that attempts to improve science could be judo-flipped into ways of decrying or defunding it.
This cannot be an excuse for not moving forward.

short walk across a cornfield.
That "short walk across a cornfield" would expose college students to views such as that the world was created in seven days six thousands years ago or that human-made climate change is a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese. I can see a few good conversations taking off from there. I'm not being sarcastic. I wonder if debates on these politically sensitive topics, featuring academics and non-academics, held off-campus would be well received by Trump voters. They'd be certainly interesting.
-
We regularly think about how we can broaden the engagement of our community with a wide range of ideologies and political perspectives, for example when we present symposiums on important social and political issues.
I do agree that most debates on campus tend to feature left-leaning speakers. Inviting more conservatives to symposia would generate more interesting debates which would include views shared by a great number of Americans (Trump voters and beyond).

Some of these now so-called "Trump states" used to be "Obama states". How will we call them in the next election cycle?
-
Cabinet-level appointees received their college educations at institutions located in states that voted for Trump.
Isn't this better than having cabinet-level appointees with no college education at all? This is what we will have now in the incoming administration.

College president: Schools can’t be blue islands in red states
Why not? Better have them be red islands in red states? Higher education is a force for liberal and progressive values. Those values are in conflict with many values held by the conservative majority in many states. Schools can and should remain liberal to promote political change in those states.

I think that this means that I can submit the same abstract to three different symposia

Duplicate abstract submissions are not allowed: Multiple abstract submissions (3 maximum) must each cover distinctly different subject areas of chemistry.
But this means that I can only submit three different abstracts?
