Catherine Leroux lives in Montréal, where she is currently at work on her fourth novel and many other literary projects."

    1. "In writing that is both evocative and perfectly pitched for young readers, Stand on the Sky tells the heartfelt and gripping tale of a Kazakh girl who, despite cultural barriers, struggles to train a wild eagle. With its authentic voice, the novel transports the reader to the steppes of Mongolia and opens up a fascinating world where age-old tradition is overturned by one young girl’s bravery and determination."

    1. "A brave, brilliantly presented work supported by a diversity of sources and written in solid and nuanced language. A profound reflection on a hot topic that addresses the perversions and distortions of law and the power and domination dynamics of the judicial sphere. This is an emotional and lucid story, an admirable, politically engaged book that resonates like a cry for help."

    1. "L’albatros et la mésange eloquently translates the existential quandaries of two teenagers throughout a well-paced, intelligent, well-constructed and lucid novel that you can’t put down. With confident and mature style, the novel is an ode to difference, friendship, love—an ode to life, really."

    1. "Mishka Lavigne’s remarkable ability to tie together all the bits and pieces of a story, to inject her characters with a poetry that is meaningful and communicable, her rhythm, her music and the great simplicity of her imagery betray a singular force of contemplation. Havre’s main character, Elsie, does not embrace her sorrow; this serves as a way to better open us up to our own, however it manifests, and to enable us to fully and freely feel a catharsis through hope."

    1. "Through an account of a patient and unremitting inquiry, this marvellously composed book revisits the story of a man who lived without leaving anything behind, save the desire his daughter, Céline, harboured in her heart to bring him back with her to the land of invention. It is a labour of love, a brave gesture expressed through a remarkable accomplishment."

    1. "This translation artfully captures the constantly shifting identities and tones that form the core of this controversial play. With pitch perfect, evocative precision, Gaboriau once again shows her faultless grasp of the emotional and intellectual complexities and nuances of translating for the stage and, in particular, Mouawad’s brilliant, challenging work."

      Use curly double quotes

    1. "In clear, crisp prose, Gillmor has written a book that is searingly honest and heartbreakingly sad. From the story of his brother’s life and death to a larger exploration of white, middle-aged masculinity, Gillmor impresses us with his quiet insights. At one point, he asks, “What are we anchored by?” His hard-earned wisdom holds us, here and beyond."

Use curly double quotes for the paragraph and curly single quotes for the question on the third line.

    1. "These confessional yet sometimes difficult poems about the Indigenous trans body are lyrical, rhythmic and fierce. It was an extraordinary experience reading this burning, honest manifesto. In her poem “A Love Letter for Trans Girls,” Benaway says, “welcome to the first day of forever… you are enough.”"

For this, use curly double quotes for the entire thing and curly single quotes for Benaway's quote.
