    1. exploresolutions to the police brutality experienced by their community

I feel inadequate to lead a discussion like this. I would need more training on how to allow students the freedom to speak their minds without hurting others feelings.

    2. foster the types of learningencounters that are relevant to and effective for the learners of today

This reminds me of UDL and the videos we watched of teaching to the edges, not the average.

    3. system ofpreparation and development

YES! I can honestly say that in my 5 years of teaching (in a private school in Ohio), not one professional development day/ training prepared me to implement CRT. I echo my fellow classmate: "Teachers need support!"

    4. they ask themselves how these factors influence their beliefsabout cultural diversity.

This is such a crucial part of changing our thinking (and ultimately our teaching) to include cultural diversity.

    5. l “windows” into the culturalheritage and experiences of others

I like this window analogy, too! Seeing other cultures as "normal" will allow students to empathize and better understand those around them who may seem "different."

    6. “mirrors" that allow them to see themselves, their experiences, and their communities in school.

I love this analogy of mirrors. Providing students with culturally diverse books (for example) in which they can see people like themselves achieving great things will boost their self-esteem and confidence.

    7. all learners process newinformation best when it is linked to what they already know

Yes!! I think a KWL chart (or something similar) is perfect for finding out what students know and then directing your teaching to build on that information.

    8. o recognize, understand, and critique current and socialinequalities

In my opinion, this aspect highlights the key of why we haven't truly achieved Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream like we talked about last class.

    9. a form of teaching that calls for engaging learnerswhose experiences and cultures are traditionally excluded from mainstreamsettings

While difficult to achieve, this should be a goal for all educators.

    10. culturallyresponsive teaching is about weaving together rigor and relevance

This is so important and can be challenging! How many times have we heard versions of the question, "Why does this matter?" If we can bring relevance and rigor for ALL students into academics, I believe more students will retain the information they need to be successful in life.

    11. t too many students of colorare held to lower academic standards, subjected to harsh discipline approaches, and taught in ways that overlook or discount their cultural and linguistic assets.

This is also sad but true. I hope that we as educators can strive to treat all students as equals, not just in academia, but in disciplinary situations as well. I've never thought about how their culture/linguistic assets in my lessons.
