    1. Church history is still a neglected specialism, like military and naval history; the universities are ignored until the era of reform; studies of the aristocracy and gentry are still mainly studies of land-ownership.

Social history is predominantly situated in terms of the political or economical history of the era. Like Clark stated, universities were around and available for centuries before they were truly shown light. They only began to become apart of social history during the era of reformation because that is when it became relevant in every day society.

    1. Time and process were fixed, and outcomes of schooling were variable. All students were expected to learn the same things in the same period of time. The Carnegie Unit provided the architecture to make this system work.

Since the Carnegie unit had been working very well since it had been adopted, as time went on the carnegie unit took on a different sense than what it originally meant to be. Instead of being seen as how much a person learns based on how much time spent in a classroom, it began to be only for the hours. I do agree that more time is class does equal for more opportunities to learn the subject but if time is the only thing schools are focusing on, nothing will be learned by the students.

    1. Time is formative. It takes time to foster students’ dispositions, or their virtues and habits. It is not enough that students demonstrate the ability, for example, to write a research paper. Students must come to think of intellectual inquiry as an end in itself, something that they cannot, and would not, avoid.

Class time is essential for a person to learn and grow in their studies because it allows them to interact with whatever it is they're learning. Although some skills may seem remedial and unnecessary it is what we make of our further understanding of each concept that helps us and allows us to succeed in the "real world." Instead we should be learning more practical skills, or focusing more on that spectrum rather than reiterating formulas and memorizing other people's ideas; we should be creating our own thoughts and stance in different arguments and learn how to be a person on your own.

    1. Many of us seem almost resigned to the conclusion that, whatever its potential drawbacks, multitasking is now a way of life and, despite our own personal failings, at least young people can multitask effectively because they’ve grown up doing it.

Although many in this generation have grown up multitasking, it is common to believe that we have become more than efficient in doing so yet it has been proven that in multitasking our efficiency has actually diminished. When focusing our thoughts on one thing at a time, things are done with more accuracy and speed than doing it at the same time.
