    1. Of captive wind that moans for fields and seas

      I think this is my choice for most important line. I love this metaphorically "captive" wind. It gives me the sense that people share part of their spirit with the natural world, but that we've become alienated from that spirit.

      Is CM talking about his ancestral home here? Once the wind leaves its 'home,' can it ever really go back? Will the subway wind ever reach its 'fields'? Is the wind meant to represent people?

      You just gotta love "great gaunt gut." That alliterative chugging reminds me of the sound trains make when they hit the track. It also feels unabashedly-poem-y. As if McKay is saying, 'this is going to be over-the-top, and you are going to like it.'
