Maybe all it illustrates is that people may have radically different interpretations of their own stories in different phases of their lives.

This line is terrifying to hear - I completely understand the point being made and its impossible to hear every story but the media controlling what the public needs to hear and what can be unsaid or saved for a later date is a slippery slope.

Is it fair to place some of the blame on journalists like this? There are sites for happy stories but a lot of wars, massacres, and famines require attention to be brought on them. There's progress in journalism that focuses on these types of stories as well.
