    1. Alexander's mother helped him secure a summer internship in a medical office. None of Anthony's or Harold's parents had any experience with a four-year college.

I totally agree and relate to this, because my parents are having higher education levels, and they can help me with my academic classes as well as good advices for me with college, for example, what type of internship I should do that would help me later on in grad schools.

    2. Poor nutri-tion and inadequate health care have long-term effects on children's in-tellectual development. Exposure to lead paint affects children's nervous systems, resulting in hyperactivity and irritability, with long-term con-sequences for both intellectual and emotional development

I agree that how the children can be affected mentally in a low income family with long term. When the kid wanted something but got refused by their parent, he is more likely not to ask again in the future. The kid knows that their family cannot afford the food, and that does affect the kid’s confident, he would think he is lower than those kids who could afford.

    3. rmission is needed if Harold or his sister wants something to eat, because food is always in short supply

I feel like it is totally opposite for the middle class kids and Harold’s family. When I was little, I have to ask for permission when going outside, but totally not have to ask for permission to food. I guess the reason for middle class kids to ask for permission to go outside, is because parents pay more attention to their kid and care more about their safety

    4. Soccer costs $15 per month, but there are additional, larger expenses periodically. The ... soccer team's new warm-up suits, socks and shirts cost the Tallingers $100. Piano runs $23 per weekly lesson per child. Tennis clinic is $50; winter basketball $30. I

My mom sent me to many extracurricular classes when I was little, whether it’s dancing, drawing or swimming. I started play violin at the of 6 and I remember the time I struggle to practice it and the time I wanted to quit, but my mom pushed me and persist to let me learn, I am glad that my mom put into the effort, and thank her for putting these resources on me.

    5. 4). With an income of more than $300,000, Alexander's family was able to spend far more money on Alexander's education, lessons, and other enrichment activities than Anthony's parents could devote to their son's needs.

To me, a family’s income plays a big roll in a child’s education, not only about the types of resources they will have but also about how they could better understand the world and society. For example, a child from a rich family could gain more resources and have a better vision of the society, because their parents have the extra money for them to learn other knowledge besides their academic skills. Compared to the poor children, they can only focus on their basic needs.

    1. Some express the feeling that they are less likely to suffer any kind of assault if they simply do not assert their subjectivity. They bave told me that many professors never showed any interest in hearing their voices.

I felt sad of the way how this works," They are less likely to suffer any kind of assault if they do not assert their subjectivity". And it is absolutely happening in our society, the society wants to form us the way we should be, but not the way we wanted to be. And that is wrong, every person's voice is important in our society, we couldn't evolute without the voices in history.

    2. Students of color and some white women express fear that they will be judged as intellectually inadequate by these peers.

To me, this is the main problem that most of the students are afraid to speak in front of the whole class,"Students of color and some white women express fear that they will be judge d as intellectually inadequate by these peers". When a teacher call on me to answer a question, I just don't feel comfortable speaking in front of the whole class and feel a little embarrassing when people are watching. I think this happens to most of the people as well.

    3. we must acknowledge that our styles of teaching may need to change. Let's face it: most of us were taught in classrooms where styles of teachings reflected the hotion of a single norm of thought and experience, which we were encouraged to believe was universal.

I totally agree with this statement, because different people think differently, and people's brain work and learn in different ways in different stage of growth. It is really surprising that we as a student, all learn from the same method and experiences. And clearly the style of teaching should be change,

    1. Why are people poor?

This question caught me thinking, people succeed because of high education, but not just because of high education. It depends on your experiences to the society and the way you think. It also depend on the environment you live in.

    2. oor children fail in schools because they are not taking advantage. Poor people exist because they wasted a good, free educa-tion. The poor themselves are the problem.

I disagree with this statement. Even though rich children might have more opportunities than the poor, but this is not the reason why poor children fit in school. The main reason that poor children fail in school is because they lack of resources and help. The probably had less attention than the rich children. There are many circumstances that can cause the failure, the main one is money, rich children can take extra class outside the school but the poor children probably have difficulties affording other classes.

    1. There is nothing wrong with America that cannot be cured by what is right with America

How I understand this statement is "The reason that we used cruel methods to others, is because we wanted to make the country better." America claimed that all should have a legal result through legal process, however, some legal results America had wasn't through legal process. I believe this is why this statement was stated, to give itself an excuse.

    2. but they do not want those things enough to make them actually happen.

The fact that America trying to hide the fact of its history from their youth… is probably don't want the youth to know the ugly side of its nation? In order for Americans to support their government, the government has to form an image of justice and fair, but things have done in the past does not match, this could make American lose trust to their country, so these facts cannot be put on the table for the county to talk about. This happen to many countries as well, and it is totally normal.

    3. Because education is so im-portant to the way the American dream works

According to my knowledge, most of the friends and families around my parents agree that the key to achieving the American Dream is through investing in their children's college education.
