    1. Evenschooltextbooksincludememeimages.Memestodayarenotonlymainstream,butbigbusiness,too.

I wonder what this business has done to the greeting card. I feel like I use to spend time finding the perfect card but now I spend time looking for the perfect meme to share in a group text or a text for a friend. A way to make them laugh, think, feel what I'm feeling.

I always wondered how a meme becomes famous and how it just works in a way that other people can play off of it and recreate it over and over to expose and market the purpose even more. Is it a by chance natural type of thing. Or whoever created it knew that it was going to hit the nail right on the head.

It's interesting humor is the most common feature. Reflecting on that I guess it's relatable, at least among people in the same country. In a way humor puts the subject in a nice little envelope that people can digest easier.

    1. Rules really do not seem like much fun atall. But when rules are taken on and adopted by players who enter themagic circle and agree to follow the rules, play happens.

What a great point! Now how do we transition this idea into our lesson plans? Typically our students don't find rules fun but within gaming they embrace the challenge and like to play the game.

    2. Together they stand for a new set of cognitive, creative, and socialskills—a cluster of practices that I call gaming literacy.

When learning about the game Walden and gaming literacy in general I thought of how this could potentially be helpful in my school with students with special needs. I spoke with social workers who work on social and emotional skills with students and thought how helpful this practice of gaming literacy could be helpful with this particular group of students who have multiple disabilities and trauma.

    3. It's interesting to see as the years go by how the needs have already change and how they will change in the future. Years ago we couldn't imagine what social media was going to become and how involved we would need to become in order to keep up with inspiring our students in education.

    1. ‘ Problem- posing education bases itself on creativity and stimu-lates true reflection and action upon reality, thereby responding to the voca-tion of [people] as beings who are authentic only when engaged in inquiry and creative transformation’ (

I think this is an interesting pedagogy where you are encouraging students to think of the world and to make meaning in the world to discover meaning in oneself. It makes me wonder though, how each individual with different backgrounds and experiences, how their realities differ from each other. Problems of the world, or their world does look different from each other.

    2. Multiliteracies approach is that learning is a process of ‘weaving’ backwards and forwards across and between different pedagogical moves

I like this idea of backwards and forwards with representations of literacies and different pedagogy. I kept thinking we must look to the "new" and move forward with the change. This is a good reminder that it'll be more circular and that intwined with one another and that we must be flexible with our focus.

    3. The idea of Multiliteracies also represents a coming together of related ideas developed before and since

It's crazy to think that concerns about various literacies and it's meaning to people and education has been discussed and analyzed since the 80's and maybe even before. I wonder how it will look 20 years from now. What will be added to our pedagogy and how will inequalities in education be improved in our future?

    1. Fan Fiction in the Classroom

I learned a little bit about what Fan Fiction is in another class, I'm interested in what this will look like. I keep thinking of comic con, which yes I have done a little cosplay while going to the Denver Comic con Convention. Storm, X-23, Psylocke... inner geek also coming through :)

    2. examine technological influences onglobal communication practices

I'm curious to learn what all the different global communication practices are and how they can be beneficial in the classroom and teaching our students! Social media is such an important way we can really help our students feel "connected."
