    1. intellect with no heart is about as useful as a heart with no intellect.

      Intellect with no heart makes a person cruel and calculating. It causes a person to have no care for others, and thus that intellect is wasted. It is as useless as a want to help but no way of doing it.

    2. inclusion does not guarantee justice;

      Simply by accepting African Americans into society does not solve all problems. Justice is not given simply by allowing people to live free. We must actively seek justice for the wrongdoings that have been and still are being done.

    3. An even greater danger is in following the lead of abstract whiteness and in confusing collective with monolithic.

      This sentence has a lot in it. The phrase abstract whiteness suggests that by romanticizing a race or segregating a race the underlying feel is that these races are not white. This abstract whiteness could be considered the basis of racism. By considering whiteness as a monolith instead of a collective, power is put behind the word "white" thus giving power to a group of people and taking power from others.

    1. but the woman who "unlearns to fear" sacrifices her most womanly instincts.

      This section of text seems to paint women in one fashion. He eludes to women as delicate birds being caged. He seems to believe that for women to step out of the standard male shadow, they must lose their inhibitions. Women must throw away what makes them who they are to come about change.

    1. In praise there is more obtrusiveness than in blame

      Praise is a good thing. It lets a person feel good about themselves, and brings about a happy mood. That is not to say that praise is always acceptable. By always praising a person, that person will never grow. They will stagnate in their lives because they will believe that they are at a pinnacle. We must remember to criticize in order to have growth.

    2. In your pride you wish to dictate your morals and ideals to Nature,

      Humanity prides itself on being the top of the food chain. We tend to sit on this throne and dictate what happens to nature. We place our morals and systems onto others, because in our pride we want to control nature. We tend to forget that we are a part of nature, and as such, all that we do is not a control nature, but nature itself.

    1. performativity presumes determinism; or, rather, if the system is stable, then the input will follow a regular path to output

      When this is said it is with the knowledge that the "system is stable." Often times, though, we find that the system is not stable. Input does not follow a regular path, and, instead, gets bend and turned along the way. What happens then?

    2. “State resorts to the narrative of freedom every time is assumes direct control over the training of ‘people,’ under the name of the ‘nation,’ in order to point them down the path of progress.”

      This is highly implemented in fascist societies. Fascism is a system of government that functions under a dictator in which the government has complete control of the economic status of its citizens. Often times propaganda will ensue to convince the population that they can only be free if they forget about finance and allow the government to control the economy.

    1. It is useful to make the following three observations about language games. The first is that their rules do not carry within themselves their own legitimation, but are the object of a contract, explicit ,or not, between players (which is not to say that the players invent the rules). The second is that if there are no rules, there is no game, that even an infinitesimal modification of one rule alters the nature of the game, that a "move" or utterance that does not satisfy the rules does not belong to the game they define. The third remark is suggested by what has just been said: every utterance should be thought of as a "move" in a game.

      Language games are not all encompassing. There are multiple different games that all relate to one major game. Just changing one rule of the game changes the game entirely. This could mean that the game is always changing and if a person does not want to lose in their language game, they must keep up with the rules. When someone has a motive, whether that motive is to push forward their idea, market a product, or any other agenda that a person may have, it must be assumed that they are playing a language game. Their game revolves around selling their product.
