      these statements are so blatantly racist, it is shocking. I want to know what happened to Mr. Huppenthal, did he lose his position?

    1. Once adopted, school districts and charter schools that don’t already have a standards-based ethnic studies program would be encouraged to offer a course based on the model curriculum to high school students as a social sciences or English language arts elective.

      the language they used here seems very intentional, "encouraged" deems that it is not a requirement but more like a nice thought...

    2. active teacher recruitment of those with Ethnic Studies degree

      Acknowledging that so many teachers teaching ethnic studies do not have their degree or "formal" education in the field, this is a cool note. Bringing in more teachers with background directly in Ethnic Studies will be a great resource for schools to collaborate on lesson plans and delve a bit deeper in more radical aspects of the field such as abolitionist teaching.
