      When we assume that knowledge presented to us by the academic institution is the only knowledge that is valuable, we perpetrate this idea to our students. How harmful could this be? I think it's important to allow students access to knowledge that comes from sources other than traditional academia.

      I think this idea of controlling the knowledge our students have access to is an interesting one. To what extent is this control helpful? To what extent does it hinder their knowledge of their world rather than fostering acceptable research methods?
