    1. One student was so proud to have “caught” one of his teachers.

Let's not congratulate this too quickly. Should anyone with clear cause to call themselves a student relish the failure of a mentor?

    1. the social, historical and political contexts of their lan-guages.

This is important and there need to be entertained multiple and perhaps simultaneous ways of teaching these contexts, one of which it seems to me would be most important would be a transference of some of this to the autodidactic.

    2. When these utterances were “corrected,” or repaired, their contributions were stunted by the demands made for them to sound “right,” or, as many youths explained, sound “White.” Seeing a Black youth—a child—in handcuffs inside our school was shocking to me. I remember feeling angry, particularly because no one else batted an eye at the sight.

Ugh literally the only reason all parts of this are issues is because every participant is a silly person who either teaches a language as dogma or dogmatically rejects the dogmatism they're being exposed to. If injected into this scenario was suddenly a genius mutant, that would just break up the valencing flow toward "BoO white I refuse to try because history justifies it" which this vicious cycle wants. How do you handle the potentiality of a non-inflected Baudelaire-reciting Colombian American student, a POC student with conversancy in not merely the speech patterns of black and white but a good chunk of the literature, the schools of thought, a fluency through 2Pac to Shelley which would make it difficult to just out and shut a door fought to be gotten open? Can such human beings not really exist, or really only so rarely today?

Image, trend, story, narrative, rumor, gossip; the apocryphal world; a game of telephone run at the scale of 7,000,000,000+ listeners and reciters of an original, seed message no one can remember.
