It was the period of Cold War. I used to read a material, which said that to compete against Soviet, American government focused on engineering a lot. This sentence reminds me of Chinese education. Students experienced a similar time. The development of engineering boost industries.
Are the schools perfect? No. But they are slowly improving. And they arecertainly better today than at any point in the past
How factors the author mentioned in the former paragraphs prove that schools are being better and better? I think those factors only indicate that the educational system worked well in the past. However, it doesn't mean that such system still works today or in the future.
