    1. It was through natural interaction.

With the common knowledge of us naturally learning our first language growing up, I believe that it contributes to the idea that only children pick up learning new languages easier than grown adults. Yes it is common for children to pick up on the language but it doesn't mean that it's impossible for adults to learn. Growing up I lived overseas for some time and I remember my mom refusing to learn some of the native language to where we were because she thought that was impossible because she was "too old."

    1. knowing what you should do and actually doing it without thinking are two different things!

This is very true especially when it comes to learning languages because I know that sometimes when I speak a language that I've been practicing for a while I do things that used to make me second guess myself but now I don't have to think twice about if something I have said/written was right or wrong. And then when it comes to speaking English, as it's my native language, I of course never have to think about doing something because it's something thats second nature.

    2. How did that exercise feel?

I thought that this exercise was so interesting and that even though some of the options were not necessarily wrong, some just felt more natural to choose. I asked my friends around me what they would say without telling them my answer and we all chose the same thing. I think it's weird but cool that there's this unspoken way about how as native English speakers we order the adjectives.

    1. Language apps like Duolingo are a perfect example of behaviorist learning.

This is such a good point and I didn't really know that Duolingo was such a great example of behaviorist learning until now but it does make a lot of sense. Especially for me, personally learning languages through Duolingo is much more rewarding than in a regular high school class. It feels more like a video game because you get to see your ranking against others and you get reminders on how often you need to play in order for you to keep your "streak." I know that this defiantly motivates me a lot more to continue learning.

    1. They truly love what they are doing! Neither type of motivation is bad; however, one usually yields better results for learning.

I would say that this is something that I am looking forward for myself as I continue to learn and that I know I will be able to relate to at a certain point because there's many struggles with learning languages but its still something I know that I will love in the end.

    1. How can our ability to learn just disappear? Newsflash, it doesn’t! It is not natural to stop learning.

This type of mindset of "people who are younger are more prone to learning things quicker" was given to me at a young age. I used to believe that since I joined a certain sport at an older age I thought I could never be as great as someone who has done the sport for their whole life. This connects to languages because although when people are younger they might pick up on a language easier it doesn't mean that now that I'm older I'm no longer able to learn a whole new language.

    1. The difference is that communication is not limited to language.

This is something that I learned mostly from just seeing other people communicate around me while growing up. For example with family members or really close friends sometimes you don't need to actually speak something to communicate to one another, there could just be look you might give or a certain body language and then its a mutual agreement. This also expands to like facial expressions, body language.

    1. You would immediately know that such high standards are ridiculous. Then why do many of us have such fear of learning languages ‘imperfectly’?

This is a mindset that I've been in ever since I could remember trying to learn new languages for the first time. I was scared that if I started to learn and I wasn't perfect at something immediately it would be one of those things that my mind simple does not process and that I'm unable of doing. Having such high standards for myself growing made me not have a growth mindset which it needed in order to learn something new.
