Michaux's arguments have been used to advocate for degrowth. While degrowth may still be a viable futures trajectory, shortage of minerals may not be one of the reason. Lack of circular economy processes or continued exploitation practices that sustain inequality and rampant consumerism and economic growth may still be valid reasons to consider for degrowth however.
