Covering also increased total fruit weight 1.84-fold
Label check on one number, not a methods review.
The three headline gains do not sit on the same unit. - 3.56-fold is fruit COUNT per plant (measured 10.8 vs 2.83; 3.56 is the model estimate). - 1.84-fold is BERRY weight: 12.18 g vs 6.63 g per fruit = 1.84. - The Results sentence calls that same 1.84 "total fruit weight 1.84-fold". The Conclusions call it "average fruit weight".
Both labels cannot be right. If count rose 3.56x and berry weight rose 1.84x, weight per plant rose nearer 6.5x (arithmetic from the paper's own two folds). So "total fruit weight 1.84-fold" understates this paper's own data by about 3.5x, and a reader who takes it as the per-plant total loses the real headline.
What holds: count, clearly. Weight, 1.84x per berry only. "Yields" without saying which quantity is a claim this paper does not settle.
