Ezra’s slightly mad typewriter-cleaning cocktail! After experimenting with various cleaners, this has become one of my favorites for grimy painted metal and bare metal parts: roughly 75% Simple Green, with the remaining 25% divided between isopropyl alcohol, white vinegar and lemon juice.
With caveats, this is what Ezra Rosensaft uses for external typewriter cleaning using modest amounts on a clean damp cloth.
