Pachter's argument (which Science itself declined to publish, as he explained on his blog (http://liorpachter.wordpress.com) demonstrates that the Ward and Kellis result may be incorrect. This would cast doubt on the paper's assertion that the method finds new evidence for purifying selection in humans for particular gene ontology terms.
