The large media companies have also diversified beyond the media field, and non-media companies have established a strong presence in the mass media.
This is very dangerous. Business is diversifying too big to get input into every aspect of life.

Note that, in some cases, a work may be in the public domain under the copyright laws of some jurisdictions but not others. For example, U.S. government works are in the public domain under the copyright law of the United States, but may be protected by copyright laws in other jurisdictions. A CC license applied to such a work would be effective (and the license restrictions enforceable) in jurisdictions where copyright protection exists, but would not be operative if U.S. copyright law is determined to be the applicable law.
How is this morphing with people working in one place and teaching in another country?

If the claims made in the filing are accurate, Class Notes may have been a bit overzealous in their copying. Some of the material distributed is alleged to be little more than sample quiz questions from the CD, with copyright information deliberately removed. But the tight integration between the CD and the class make it so it's hard to tell where standard lecture material ends and the copyrighted works begin.
This is interesting. It seems like with the internet, copyrighting and educational content are in a very grey area.

Currently the Internet of Things, complex social media networks, and virtual and augmented reality are emerging technologies. We want our graduates to develop an awareness of their digital practices and help them determine how those technologies are designed, built, and distributed in their fields and their communities.
This is going to continue to be an interesting subject as more and more things in our home and work are connected to the internet. Do the companies that are collecting this information have the user's best interest in mind. #LiDA 102

Wikipedia can actually be a constructive tool in the classroom if understood and used correctly.
Like anything, if you use the tool for what it should be, it can be effective.

Digital skills would focus on which tool to use (e.g., Twitter) and how to use it (e.g., how to tweet, retweet, use TweetDeck), while digital literacy would include in-depth questions: When would you use Twitter instead of a more private forum? Why would you use it for advocacy? Who puts themselves at risk when they do so?
I teach a CAD course and I always try and bridge the gap between skill and literacy. Which is the more important? Chicken or egg?
