    1. This kind of understanding connects more to cinematic than ludic traditions, although designer Thomas Grip has noted that ensuring players reach that understanding is more critical in a game than a film:

I find it interesting that the creator of the game Gone Home created it with a horror theme, such that the player is on edge while playing. This follows the standard traditions of a horror game. However, it is unique in that the main character has no supernatural beings to overcome. Instead, the player is encouraged to search the house in order to find clues about the main character's family.

    1. Moving the journey to the movies opened up the visual dimension of the archetype.

I agree that movies opened up a visual dimension, however I feel as though this removes an aspect of freedom for the viewer. From novels and stories, the audience is able to imagine different aspects in a way that best resonates with them. On the other hand, visuals from movies are able to emphasize important pieces that make the overall experience better.

    2. Most of all, games are goal directed and structured around turn taking and keeping score. All of this would seem to have nothing to do with stories. (26)

Although games and stories seem to have many differences, this class helped me realize how similar they truly are. For example, in the game Adventures with Anxiety, I realized that we are able to have a choice in the outcome of a story. Although the endings are generally the same, the way we reach this ending is different which allows it to be classified as both a story and a game in one.
