    1. I wish school funding was woke.

This quote is expressing a desire for school funding to be more aware of inequalities.

    2. Where are all the “woke” books?

She is questioning the lack of diverse and inclusive literature in our education system.

    3. f you examine public school data on funding or who among our students are surveilled, policed, and suspended or have the opportunity to take AP classes, extracurriculars, and other forms of enrichment, our public education system was never woke; I am not sure if it was ever awake.

This quote suggests that if we closely analyze the data regarding public school funding and the unequal treatment of students, such as surveillance, policing, suspensions, and access to advanced classes, etc., it becomes evident that our public education system has never been aware of these issues. This raises doubts about our education system and whether it has ever been socially conscious to these problems.

    1. As always, it’s useful to look at what economists call “revealed preferences” — or what people do, regardless of what they say. The economic advantage of getting a college degree remains at just about an all-time high when compared with the average earnings of Americans with only a high-school diploma. In recent years, a typical college graduate earned a median wage premium of more than $30,000, or almost 75 percent more than those who had completed just high school, a 2019 New York Fed analysis found.

Revealed preferences refers to people's actual behavior or choices, rather than what they say or claim.

The economists analyze the economic advantage of obtaining a college degree by comparing the average earnings of college graduates with those who have only completed HS.

    2. College degree alternatives may still play a worthwhile role for some students.

in other words, there may still be value in exploring alternatives to traditional degrees for certain students.

    1. their issue is not with indoctrination itself but with whether they get to control the form and function of that indoctrination.

Prager didn't see that brainwashing these children would eventually cause issues in the future. Teaching them these beliefs gives them a one-sided view, which will cause them to listen to the opinions that don't agree with that view and forcefully oppose from them.

    2. n short, Prager is poison on the racial question, and anything springing from his efforts should, by definition, be considered tainted, particularly when it comes to race.

Prager is leading to racial harassments as he continues to speak upon racism. This would be a destructive effect on the environment. His reputation is not looking good because of what he is pursuing and informing others about.

    3. As for Prager himself, this is a man who said on his radio show in 2020, “It is idiotic that you cannot say the N-word.”

This was a horrible thing to say, especially on the radio, I mean at all. This type of action makes it very offensive to the audience, and Prager should be careful about what is being published since many people wouldn't take it well.

    4. in the video does it mention that most of the prominent founders, including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, were themselves enslavers.

This compares to The Unanimous declaration of independence , where they mention "All men are created equal" but yet only permitted wealthy men to vote, which was unfair to the poor, and when they also talk about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness it confuses me since one third of the Declaration's signers were enslavers.

    5. Slavery was a brutal, inhumane institution, but it wasn’t always deadly. Under Columbus, though, death was a prominent feature of the institution.

To my understanding, this quote means that slavery was not always deadly. Still, when it came to slavery under Christopher Columbus, death was easily seen since many of the Tainos died during the journey of being sold.

    6. blasphemous.

Someone who shows disrespect for god or a religion.

    7. Columbus rationalizes slavery,

Rationalize: To think about or describe something (such as bad behavior) in a way that explains it and make it seem proper.

    8. In it, a cartoon Columbus says that the first Indigenous people he met when he landed in the Bahamas, the Taino, a subgroup of the Arawak, were “peaceful, curious and really helpful.” Later, he says, “I ordered my men to treat them well.”

This is a prime example of propaganda.

    9. In reality, PragerU is little more than a propaganda media site.

PragerU shared information that was used to persuade people in order to promote his point of view, the Spread of his ideas caused to influence public opinion.

    1. In the Dominican Republic, black identity is much more complicated.

What does this mean by much more complicated?

    2. Afro-Latinos make up significant shares of the population in some corners of Latin America. In Brazil, about half of the population is of African descent (black or mixed-race black).

According to wikipedia it states that "During the Atlantic slave trade era, Brazil imported more enslaved africans than any other country in the world."

    3. This is the first time a nationally representative survey in the U.S. has asked the Latino population directly whether they considered themselves Afro-Latino.

Why was this the first survey in the U.S about the latino population? was it to know how many hispanics actually knew where they originally came from? was it to see if there was any recognition behind ones race? or were they just curious to know what latinos identify with overall?

    1. 8

Indigenous: Originating or occurring naturally in a particular place.

    2. For page 2 the fact that there has to be survey says a lot about how colorism is such an issue today.
