    1. When looking at the question if the connections we make online are meaningful. I think it is important to realize that your online presence can be controlled however you want it to be and you have time to think about what you want to post or say. The author talked about the intimacy of social media and talked about how it is the sharing of ones actions, beliefs, or emotions(2-2). With that definition I think that it is easy to say that the relationships you build online are not meaningful because it is so easy to control what you want to put out. When you are in person your reactions are more natural and meaningful.

I disagree that online environments limit the potential of developing close relationships. I have seen that with the online life we have now you can meet people you have never met before and develop an in person relationship with them just from meeting them online. The author brings up the question of "Does one not need to be close to experience nearness?" in the article. I think the simple answer to that question is yes, you do not need to be close. You can feel nearness through online talking, I just believe that it is less meaningful until you meet online.

    1. In the public realm, there are all kinds of applications: allocating police resources by predicting where and when crimes are most likely to occur; finding associations between air quality and health; or using genomic analysis to speed the breeding of crops like rice for drought resistance.

We use Big Data to predict many different scenarios in the public realm in order to better our society. Whether it is using it to predict when crimes will happen or when the air quality is going to be low. I think this is important because whether it is correct or not it is important to have a base that we can look at to know when things are generally going to happen. It is always important to have a starting point and we cannot consistently rely on it but it is better to be aware then unaware.

    1. The term has become widely used – too widely. But it’s understandable there’s confusion when some fake news is only a bit fake, or fake for an arguably legitimate reason (such as satire).

With all the social media we have and how many people social media influencers influence it is tough to keep them away. In this day I think that it is sometimes hard to tell between what is fake news and what is real news. People are in the trend of deciding what is fake news and what is real news. It is hard when the president of the united states is the leader of tweeting what is fake news and real news.

    1. Floridi discusses how our world is being integrated into a global ‘infosphere’ where what we do online and off merge into an ‘onlife’. As we gradually become surrounded by and coupled to smart gadgets which manipulate the information we promote about ourselves, we acquire an onlife personality—one different from our real world ‘embodied’ personality.

Floridi is talking about how much we use technology and how we almost develop two personalities. We use these online gadgets to show people what we want them to see. Its almost as if we have two personalities and we can show people what we want them to see. We have an increased amount of technology and we are able to show many different views of ourselves.
