Even at a constant temperature, there is variation in pulse interval.
Even when there is constant temperature that causes males to pulsate at ideal intervals for attraction of females, There is still variation which in turn leads to imperfect transfer of information which cause variation.

Lorenz
Studied geese to show a number of ways animals posses innate expressions and sounds for transfer of communication. Imperfect transfer can cause variation.

Big Idea
Not all information passed form individuals is heritable. Non heritable information such as birds doing a dance in order to find a mate is transferring information to the potential mate and if that potential mate accepts that that when the exchange of heritable info comes into play. all of this plays a role in the variation of a species

Two proteins
hemagglutinin and neuraminidase are the two proteins on that code for the spikes on the influenza cell that facilitate infection.
-
Influenza is a single-stranded RNA (ssRNA)
Influenzas chromosomes are composed of only on strand of an RNA molecule. Which seems a little unnerving figuring there are only 16 different combinations for the RNA molecules that distinguishes a regular flu season from a pandemic
-
Influenza was first identified as an illness in the 1400s
Italian scientists thought the disease was influenced by the stars, which is where influenza got its name. I thought this was interesting.

Is this basically dominant traits becomes the phenotype over the recessive gene and two recessive genes become the phenotype? Did that make sense?

dihybrids
Will we discuss this in class? As well as the 9:3:3:1 ratio?
-
dihybrids
carrying two alleles at each of the two loci
