Twitter. All the good memes I get come from the comments on Twitter. Though lately the memes I save on my phone are more like reaction images rather than the traditional "meme."

    1. arguments and purchases and relationships so algorithmically determined it was hard to describe them as real

Oof, this bit kinda gave me a chill. Particularly the relationships part. I keep referencing Black Mirror, but y'know what, it fits. The S4 episode Hang the DJ seems to take place in a world where relationships are completely algorithm-based, both who you're with as well as the length of time you get to be with them. And the two main characters, after having only a 12 hour relationship, seem to pine for each other throughout the course of their other relationships. Long story short, they want to be together and try to escape the system and once they do... [SPOILER] the viewer finds out that the whole set-up was an allegory for a dating algorithm itself. So... the whole thing was fake to begin with. It's... partly endearing partly clever partly Are You Serious. A great combo don't you think?

And if that doesn't fit this completely idk what does. Go watch Black Mirror, y'all, I'm telling ya.

    1. modern

I dunno about actual practices but I know that there are references to alchemy all over the place in modern entertainment and media. I went into some of the references I was familiar with in my first post from the first time I took NetNarr. Take a peek if you like: https://owlsarepeopletoo.wordpress.com/2017/01/25/that-stalker-alchemy/

Watching this reminded me of a horror game I used to watch playthroughs of back in the day. Aqua Regia was used as a component to create acid at one point in the game. Thinking about it now, there were a lot of alchemy elements to that game... Go google Amnesia: The Dark Descent for a good time (and jumpscares lol)

    1. Video games

Ohhhhh boy I could go on and on about stories in some video games... particularly choice-based games that really get the player involved in the actual story.
