    1. The ADDIE model

The ADDIE model is such an opportunity to integrate the main elements (analyze, evaluate, develop, and implement) and create with integrity to solve a problem.

    2. The Dick and Carey model

I like how this model establishes the goals to support the design and revise the process by identifying behaviors and objectives.

    3. but also to consider the diversity of learners and learning contexts as well as the difference in the types of content to be learned.

Designing must be inclusive. All learners experience different needs and have been exposed to different experiences. (ELLs,)

    4. It is also essential to identify the behaviors and characteristics of the learner in order to provide the optimum learning experience.

As a part of understanding the needs, designers must connect to the use and development of the design to understanding the engagement and challenges.

    1. International Journal of Designs for Learning ) and by publishing in design research journals .

International Journal of Designs for Learning ) and by publishing in design research journals . https://scholarworks.iu.edu/journals/index.php/ijdl

This is what I found about it:

"The journal provides a venue for designers to share their knowledge-in-practice through rich representations of their designs and detailed discussion of decision-making"

    2. Finally, I encourage instructional designers—novice and expert alike—to let themselves be inspired by the design research field and human-centered approaches, and then to give back by sharing their design work as design cases

the design research field and human-centered approaches- I firmly believe that designing must be connected to research, empathy and respect for all.

    1. . Without knowledge of relevant aspects of human cognitive architecture such as the characteristics of and intricate relations between working memory and long-term memory,

I connect this to the memories from childhood. As humans, we tend to retrieve the information that we have experienced in meaningful or challenging situation. It is fundamental to understand cognition and the learning theories to expand learning opportunities for all.

    1. electing relevant images

This is very critical topic where designers and educators can involve topics from real-life scenarios. to engage and motivate students.

    2. Three cognitive processes required for active learning

The selection process is a very important part. Learners tend to be more focused on topics that are important to them.

    3. Process structures can be represented as cause-and-effect chains and consist of explanations of how some system works.

Seses play a critical role in multimedia design. The cause-and-effect of a design can engage learners or turn them off. In a recent science class students were very surprised by learning about habitats and interacting online creating a real habitat using the MN Zoo website.

    4. The second assumption is that humans are limited in the amount of information that can be processed in each channel at one time

This is also very important to remember; however, learners tend to remember more these topics or experiences that have involved more emotions and the majority of senses.

    5. Research is needed to determine the benefits of adding more channels to the cognitive theory of multimedia learning (e.g., for touch, taste, smell, movement, and body orientation),

This is a significant part where learners can also make connections to the real world.

    6. Some ways to measure learning outcomes: retention and transfer questions for the lightning lesson

I connect this to a program called "Mystery science". Their videos are narrations with moving images. They take pauses to ask questions to the learners and ensure understanding. I this this is such positive way to check for new learning or questions.

    7. Figure 5.1 Selected frames from a narrated animation on lightning formation

Narrated animation allows learners to be more engaged. (Moving images keep the audience more engaged.)

    8. People learn more deeply from words and pictures than from words alone.

As an elementary school teacher, I have observed the difference in learning from using pictures to expand knowledge. Students have demonstrated to make connections with previous background knowledge to help them make sense of the new information.

    1. “analytic andcreativeprocess thatengages aperson inopportunitiestoexperiment,create andprototypemodels,gatherfeedback,andredesign”

Engaging a person in opportunities to experiment, create and get feedback continues to be a fundamental part of learning. It should prevail when thinking about the creation of new models.

    2. we see most researchersreference design thinking as methods, practices or processes, and afew others reference cognition or mindset.

Design thinking is a well-structured process. I compare this process to how teachers can influence students to love math by setting a mathematical mindset instead of teaching memorization of facts. Understanding the process helps to make sense and expand learning. Developing a mathematical mindset is similar to design thinking because it represents the purpose of solving problems by understanding the needs.

    3. approaches such as designthinking, human-centered design,

I consider that instructional design should always be created aligned with humans' needs, capacities, and challenges. For example, understanding students' behaviors and development could play a critical role in developing and enhancing learning.
