      This surely is an ideal way to proceed, but I'm not sure students are always mindful of why they annotate what they annotate. They might not be able to declare immediately the annotation strategy they employ.

      It might be useful to be able to have this applied in a return to the annotated text. The process of annotation is most beneficial to students when it is iterative.

      It might be useful to denote some other strategies, tagging or coding #I am referencing another text we studied in this class or #I am referencing another text I studies in another class or #I am drawing on lived experience.
