In several different places of one study, the two researchers claimed that the lighter the skin pigmentation, the higher the IQ score; conversely, the darker the pigmentation, the lower the IQ sco
This pseudoscience rooted in white supremacy is just scientific racism. There is no true empirical evidence to support or justify intelligence based on race and no race is intellectually superior or inferior than the other.

1). Others have argued that the his- torical development of intelligence measurement exams has been for the express purpose of maintaining class hegemony by clinically labeling the lower classes as less educable and therefore undeserving of the same levels of expenditures and opportunities granted to those schools serving the middle-class and the elite (Gonzalez, 197
Besides the white students themselves having an economic advantage, predominantly white areas are known to have more funding and with more funding comes a better quality of education.

act. Is Professor Graglia correct? If not, then are tests and testing procedures somehow in error? Do certain American racial minority groups perform at a lower level than whites because they are inherently less intelligent, or are there other mitigating factors involve
Professor Graglia couldn't be anymore incorrect, the issue however are these standardized tests and the money and prep work that comes before them. For instance the SAT can get expensive from the cost of the exam to the cost of the SAT prep book and especially the cost of tutors. It's not about certain racial groups being less intelligent due to performance, it's about privilege and economic advantage.

The fact that this ideology was present even as recently as 1997 is shameful. From what I've experienced for myself in my own immigrant family and witnessed in others, parents of minority families make education a crucial matter in the household and become upset when their children don't show interest in school and learning.

One of the more vexing controversies in modern education is the in- creasing use of tests designed to quantify intellectual capacity, achievement, or potential as the central criteria in the selection of students for universi- ties, graduate schools, and professional sch
This is a direct result of eugenics and its racist racial IQ testing from the 1900s. It's managed to survive and carry on into our modern education system in a new form still negatively impacting minority youth.

Only recentlyhave we rediscovered the concept of the self, and too many of ushave still not absorbed James’s insights into the distinctionamong the material, social, and spiritual (conscious) selves (al-though few of us have had to contend with a Swedenborgianfather who rejected all notions of selfhood).
This is surprising and perplexing to me because as early as Descartes he said and I quote "Cogito, ergo sum" meaning I think, therefore I am. Selfhood and consciousness shouldn't be a recently discovered concept.

Wundt preached the inaccessibility ofthose phenomena to experimental and by implication ‘‘scien-tific’’ study.
Yes! because the mind cant be experimented like other practical sciences, only through observation and studying can we learn more about the human mind.

Henoted that whereas psychology must be based on the results ofethnology and anthropology, mental development may stillbe the same for different cultures or that similar cultures may, psychologically speaking, represent different stages of ‘‘mentalculture.’’
I agree, from what i gathered in my past developmental psychology course we all share the same consensus that mental development is the same from culture to culture but the mental culture in other societies vary.

He related the three broad topics Sprache, Mythus, and Sitte (language, mythology, and culture) to the individual-psychological aspects of representation, emotion, will, andhabit.
Intriguing.. I can see where the connection is possibly being made, that language and culture have an impact on our psyche? Language can focus our aspect on specific aspects of the world and influences perception and culture effects us developmentally.

The duality of German politics and the parallel developmentof Wundt’s politics are reflected in his psychology, which hasproduced a split between social and experimental psychology
It begs the questions.. How has the duality of German and Wundt's politics followed us in some guise ever since? Does it mean that traces of modern psychology are still white washed and catered towards one demographic?
