      I'm conflicted: should I interpret this as a sign of introjected societal norms that makes the author fear changes that might be too drastic? Or is it a very wise way of approaching a thorny issue because he doesn't want "women's liberation" to fail?

      this is a very powerful argument! She's basically telling men that they are limiting humankind by not allowing women to participate in scholarship.

      She's also leveraging scholars' narcissism by telling them that their own knowledge is limited and they could achieve much more by engaging with women scholars. I'm curious to know what was the reception of this essay. I guess it made some men furious...
