    1. In addition to the methods detailed above for exporting annotations, annotations are stored locally in Zotero's open SQLite database and are extractable using standard open-source tools. They are also accessible to plugins within Zotero and to external tools via the Zotero web API.

What tools? Time to go looking!

    1. Twitter subscribers who until a few months ago were apparently experts in European relations or constitutional law are now skilled infectious diseases epidemiologists. The accretion of new knowledge takes place via tweets, political grandstanding, gross misinterpretation of preprints, and media briefings in the absence of scrutinisable data. We are witness to the unedifying spectacle of highly respected scientists left squirming as they are subject to the dangerous ramblings of politicians desperate to rescue themselves from their own incompetence.

    1. Can't do anchored annotations because of the way this page is done (should have done this on one of the many open webpages that have this ;-) , but I have to note that I say "Nonsense." Please!": [and] "HA!!" so, so often when I am reading.

    1. And so the idea of live video lectures in my classes was born. What I lacked in funding and ability to control the weather I made up for in social connections and guts. I figured if I asked the authors of the material I assigned (some of whom I had met, some not), surely one or two would say yes. Chocolates sweetened the deal. Turns out, all nine agreed.[1]

Nice! Somehow when I was first fiddling with it on my phone I got the side tray and couldn't get back to the bottom tray, but I can't duplicate whatever I did.

    1. This proxy bookmarklet is a great tool for accessing articles and other resources you can get through the WSU Libraries without having to go directly through the Libraries.

    1. Thoughts about the long tail - I wrote this blog post almost two years ago (as of this annottion) and the long tail has expanded even more. The example I gave here was for back-listed books, however, and this has not expanded quite as much two years later as I wish it had. Orphan works? Author rights? Start-up costs? All those and more, I suspect... -loe 3/22/16 #pagenote
