    1. From 2009 to 2012, Pennsylvania cut public funding for higher education by more than 19 percent, some $430 million. Nationwide, state funding for college dipped by 9 percent.

      But this (reduced support for colleges from state and federal governments) was already well underway by this point.

    1. The hardest part of taking notes isn’t learning a system, it’s knowing when to apply which system and knowing what is important which, in my opinion, isn’t something that can be easily taught — it’s learned over the course of a lifetime and varies wildly by context.

      However, should we not try to teach things that aren't easily taught? (Also somewhat disagree with it taking a "lifetime," though I think I understand what the author is getting at.)

    1. But how do we know local resistance doesn’t want what little help we can offer in those few brief days? Has anyone actually asked that specific question or are we assuming academic theories?

      Great questions here Al! Maybe we need to build this into our presences at Cs more, either officially or unofficially?
