in northern Syria “the cultivation of wild cereals dates back at least to 10,000 BC” (234). They cite the arguments of Willcox et al. (2008) about rye at Abu Hureyra, but these have been seriously undermined by Colledge and Conolly (2010), further supported by Weide et al. (2021).
