For rare words in Latin, articles may include all surviving attestations of those words. Typically only a representative selection of attestations are included in most articles which is indicated in the text by two "crossed cigars" before the lemma (or headword).

Within the TLL's work they consider the work on each headword to be an "article" which are also individually credited.
