    1. Here belief and trust have brought about an obedient response to the divine gift of Jesus and the decrees that, when obeyed from the heart, bring one into that state of "freedom from sin" made accessible in the act of baptism (6:3-11). From that day forward, the person who has thus responded in faith must continue to act in faith by being a "servant of righteousness."

Sounds like it's the concept of "from faith to faith" that Paul talks about in Rom 1.16-17.

    1. para que vocês não pequem

O pecado é cometido como ato contra Deus. Separa-nos dele. João escreve para combater falsa doutrina. Esta afirmava que cristão não peca nunca mais. João não quer que os leitores pequem. Mas ...

    1. “God is not about time. He is about purpose.” Think about it. God is not bound by time as you and I. He created time within the span or space of eternity. However, God is bound by purpose, His purpose, and the purpose He set forth from eternity involves leadership.

True, to a point. God pursues his purpose within time and history. In Christ he did bind himself to time. His plan is carried out within history, the timeline of divine sovereignty. He rules over time and purpose and carries out his will according to his calendar.

    1. The Gospel for today provokes some good reflections. We are listening these days to the early curing-stories in Mark’s Gospel. There are many little curings which are statements affirming that Jesus is the Saving Message and Messenger.

The phrase "little curings" seems disrespectful. Was any cure little for those who received it? Was it little power on God's part? Were they little in their impact? Where the people little ones who weren't important? In what sense can any miraculous cure performed by the Lord be called little?

    1. Belong to us and to our children — Are the proper objects of our inquiries, that thereby we may know our duty, and, by complying with it, may be kept from such terrible calamities as these now mentioned.

Proper objects of our attention and effort. Let us not waste time inquiring after things that are beyond us or that have to do with God's sovereignty and design.

    1. vocês se tornarão merecedores do seu Reino

Surpreendente ver essa tradução, merecedores, do termo para "digno" numa versão evangélica. Tb no v. 11, termo afim. Não tenho explicação por que verteram dessa forma.
