Itpresents information on the County's topography, geology, soils, and water resources. Theseresources provide many opportunities, but also pose some severe environmental problems.Development should be guided away from areas with serious limitations, such as steep slopes,shallow depth to bedrock, flood plains, prime agricultural lands, wetlands, and sinkholes. Mapsshowing general geology, general soils, the hydrogeologic survey of Shenandoah County, andgeneralized development limitations are included.Natural resources were briefly addressed in individual paragraphs about topography,climatology, minerals, soils, hydrology, and forests in the 1973 Plan, along with a general soilsmap. Soils data has since been updated with the Shenandoah County Soils Survey.
