    1. If you don’t have a setup, there are many times when you get theinspiration, the idea, but you have no tools, no place to put ittogether. And the idea just sits there and festers. Over time, it will goaway. You didn’t fulfill it—and that’s just a heartache.

!- theme of talk : losing yourself, How to be a Person without a Self - what it is to exist as a person without a self - based on the research in his book: Losing yourself: How to be a person without a self

    1. I have always been impressed by those academics who can sit impassively through a complex lecture by some visiting luminary without finding it necessary to make a single note, even a furtive one on the back of an envelope. They’d lose face, no doubt, if they were seen copying it all down, like a first-year undergraduate.

In academia, the act of not taking notes can act as an external signal of superiority or even indifference.

    1. Such schemas cannot easily be refactored without removing the benefits of sharing. Refactoring would require forking a local copy, which for schemas intended to be treated as an opaque validation interface with internal details that may change, eliminates the benefit of referencing a separately maintained schema in the first place.

    1. He showed his famous sense of humor in a 2006 commentary for NPR's "This I Believe" series, writing: "I admire enormously the candidate able to face defeat with humor and grace. Nobody ever conceded defeat better than Dick Tuck who, upon losing a California state senate primary, said simply, 'The people have spoken ... the bastards.' "

    1. Then, people from programming communities (mainly front-end) realized that CoffeeScript is out of date and is starting to lag behind the ever-evolving Javascript environment. As of today, January 2020, CoffeeScript is completely dead on the market (though the GitHub repository is still kind of alive).

    1. There's a lot of advice online showing how to get rid of snap. (e.g.: https://cialu.net/how-to-disable-and-remove-completely-snaps-in-ubuntu-linux/ worked for me) so the only result (so far, a few months later) is that Chromium has lost a user, and having upgraded Ubuntu since the original Warty, if snap becomes obligatory I'll have to take a look at Mint, or Devuan.

    1. Lakes can receive ground-water inflow

gaining dan losing stream juga berlaku untuk danau.

    2. Where streamflow is generated in head- waters areas, the changes in streamflow between gaining and losing conditions may be particularly variable (Figure 13).

    1. “I can’t say what I was going to say, Jug, because I’ve forgotten what it was... that I was going to say.”

I had to quickly google if Mansfield had lost someone in her life because she encapsulates through these short stories the intricacies of feelings that come with grief—where there is really never a right word to describe how one feels when losing someone. Thus, the only thing left to do is to be present for each other without needing to say anything or explain anything. I found out that Mansfield lost her brother during the Great War.

    1. “Jug Jug” to dirty ears.

Refers to someone who is uneducated. Already, Eliot has referred to "Classic Literature" that most people in today's modern society aren't aware of. This is his way of mocking those people.
