    1. We should only write on one side of these papers so that in searching through them, we do not have to take out a paper in order to read it. This doubles the space, but not entirely (since we would not write on both sides of all the slips). This consideration is not unimportant as the arrangement of boxes can, after some decades, become so large that it cannot be easily be used from one’s chair. In order to counteract this tendency, I recommend taking normal paper and not card stock.
    1. Periermenias Aristotelis

      Notes from event on 2023-09-07

Used as part of the Carolingian educational program (rhetoric)

As of 2023, it's the oldest codex manuscript in Philadelphia

Formerly part of the (Thomas) Phillipps Collection (MSS Phillips appears on p1); see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Phillipps

There is some green highlighting on portions of the text

contains some marginalia and interlineal notations

      Periermenias is the Greek title

Underdotting of some of the letters is used to indicate deletion of the text (used like striking out text today)

There are two sets of Carolingian script in the book, likely by different hands/times.

Shows prick marks in parchment for drawing lines to write evenly.

Has a few diagrams: squares of opposites (philosophy); color was added in XI C or possibly later

folio 45 switch to newer MS copy to continue text

Poem in last few lines with another text following it

parchment is smaller in one section at the end.

Another poem and then a letter to an abbott with a few pages in between (likely misbound) - quire of 12

Book starts with grammar, then Boethius translation of Aristotle, and then a letter. This could be an example of the trivium put together purposely for pedagogy sake, though we're missing all of their intended purpose (it wasn't written down).

    1. o improve accuracy, Sony hasintroduced the Weighted Least Square Method (WLSM) al-gorithm. In WLSM, the square value of residuals are individu-ally weighted

The weight is imposed so that theresiduals in bright channels are relatively under weightedcompared to dim channels

    1. This reveals the actual problem, however: Right now, websites like Twitter exist in the public consciousness in a kind of superposition—Schrödinger’s public square. On the one hand, they are platforms with outsized power over and influence—serving as forums for discussion and debate, the dissemination of news (real and fake), and the hotbed of our culture.
    2. The real question isn’t whether platforms like Twitter and Facebook are public squares (because they aren’t), but whether they should be. Should everyone have a right to access these platforms and speak through them the way we all have a right to stand on a soap box downtown and speak through a megaphone? It’s a more complicated ask than we realize—certainly more complicated than those (including Elon Musk himself) who seem to think merely declaring Twitter a public square is sufficient.

    1. Dorsey co-founded Square in 2009 with a focus on in-person payments and its namesake card reader, which let people accept credit card payments on a smartphone. San Francisco-based Square has since added a peer-to-peer digital banking app and small business lending, received a bank charter and begun offering crypto and stock trading. The company has acquired buy-now-pay-later provider Afterpay and Jay-Z’s music streaming service Tidal. It’s also doubling down on bitcoin with a crypto-focused business called TBD.
    1. In his interviews, he likes to emphasize that, in each book, he’s back to square one.

Where does Robert Greene specifically say this?

With a commonplace book repository, one is never really starting from square one. Anyone who says otherwise is missing the point.

    1. The only piece of note taking software on the market that currently supports this feature (that I’m aware of) is Microsoft OneNote.

OneNote supported on-the-fly interlinking with Double Square Bracket Linking

    1. As Ali explained it to me, for him, January 25, 2011, was in many ways an ordinary January 25—officially a “police celebration day,” but traditionally a day of protest. Although he was young, he was a veteran activist. He and a small group of fellow activists gathered each year in Tahrir on January 25 to protest police brutality. January 25, 2011, was not their first January 25 pro-test, and many of them expected something of a repeat of their earlier protests—perhaps a bit larger this year.

This mirrors the story of the rape that preceded the Rosa Parks protests in Alabama several years prior and helped set the stage for that being successful.

It's often frequent that bigger protests are staged to take place on dates/times that have historical meaning.

    1. Have to agree had a walk around here recently and I'm not impressed by any of the buildings going up around the square. The FJMT tower and low rise buildings are a jumbled mess, pretty ugly actually. The Mirvac buildings are not much better. The library just looks like an entrance to a train station and makes no sense being underground with it's commercially clad fly tower or whatever it is? It's entrance is cramped with a cafe blocking access to the steps. Why build a grand space only for it to be cluttered? I just felt the place felt like no lesson's have been learnt. Hopefully some better designs will be constructed in Green squares evolution but it's certainly not an exercise in good city planning and the architecture is certainly not groundbreaking harmonious or pleasing on the eye.

Largely agree. It's all very controlled, with a bit of decent archi. But it certainly doesn't feel 'real', tactile.. like there is any ownership. It belongs to ritzy people, ritzy gov, and ritzy gov-corporate relationships. Yerp.
