Often times we have grandiose self perceptions of what the theatre and everything involved were like. Not what most high-schoolers “forced” to read Shakespeare in their English classes would imagine. I find extremely important that the perception of the actors as vagrant in the eyes of the law enforcement of the time is worth pointing out considering many of the plays were performed for Queen Elizabeth and James I. As a matter of fact the “Lord Chamberlains Men” (Shakespeare’s acting company) was renamed the “Kings Men”  by James I.
