    1. Bodily functions at least remain democratic.Everybody shits, as Moira would say

The body is the most democratic, free of power differences as everyone is just a biological animal -- connects to body determining Offred so completely.

    1. wait. I compose myself. My self is a thing I must now compose, as onecomposes a speech. What I must present is a made thing, not something born.

She is trying her best in an internal conflict to dissociate herself from the things Gilead does to her body (the commander in the ceremony, the doctor), but it is difficult because her body determines her so completely.

She tries to fight for her mind, even when the society she is in tries NOT to objectify women -- by preventing men from expressing their desire for them.

    2. Idon't want to look at something that determines me so completely.

      A vote towards bodily continuity.

    1. Lacan’s terms, these distinctions come to us from the order ofsignifiers, and they must therefore be understood as an activelystructuring principle.

Distinctions between subjects is purely a matter of language, when discernible things are usually gradual and not ordered. This connects to Hume's bundle theory where the human mind chooses where the boundary lies between continuity and discontinuity even when all should be gradually discontinuous -- the continuity is simply an illusion, a phantasy.

    1. This passage conflates Elio’s desire with the physical body. By connecting ejaculation with therevealing of his secret, Elio grounds his desire in the physical action of his body. With thismetaphor linking speaking and masturbating, he attempts to convince himself that the confessionhas been completed, resulting in a physical act.

The only notable quote i think would support my argument. The passage of words to physical truth coming out of his body in his semen. This links the confession of the verbal to the truthful (and permanent) confession of the physical.

    1. ’d commit the ultimateindignity, and with this indignity show him that the shame was all his, notmine, that I had come with truth and human kindness in my heart and that Iwas leaving it on his sheets now to remind him how he’d said no to a youngman’s plea for fellowship.

"Truth" is embedded in his semen that he will lay on the sheets after lots of fuddling trials by making excuses. In the end it is all his sexuality that will confess all truth and human kindness

    2. This was probably the firsttime in my life that I spoke to an adult without planning some of what I wasgoing to say. I was too nervous to plan anything

His bodily reaction prevents him from planning, from taking the spontaneity and truthfulness of his expression out. His body cannot lie, it is representative of his identity and overcomes the deception of words.

    1. I would have blushed, and blushed because I had blushed, fuddledwith words and ultimately broken down—and then where would I be? Whatwould he say?Better break down now, I thought, than live another day juggling all ofmy implausible resolutions to try again later

Shows that true identity is most transparent (Cor cordium; heart of hearts) through the expression of the body. The body never lies. The blushing and the fuddling would have given it all, and therefore is the basis of bodily continuity

    1. The very possibility of meeting his family suddenly alarmed me—tooreal, too sudden, too in-my-face, not rehearsed enough. Over the years I’dlodged him in the permanent past, my pluperfect lover, put him on ice, stuffed him with memories and mothballs like a hunted ornamentconfabulating with the ghost of all my evenings. I’d dust him off from timeto time and then put him back on the mantelpiece. He no longer belonged toearth or to life. All I was likely to discover at this point wasn’t just howdistant were the paths we’d taken, it was the measure of loss that was goingto strike me—a loss I didn’t mind thinking about in abstract terms butwhich would hurt when stared at in the face, the way nostalgia hurts longafter we’ve stopped thinking of things we’ve lost and may never have caredfor.

Even after fifteen years, he has not matured the way Oliver had, because he still holds tightly, too tightly, to the Elio of yesterday, the Elio of fifteen years ago, to his identity-yesterday. But his identity can never flourish without the flux. His identity requires flux. Elio is not Elio if he never changes. This is his attempt at psychological continuity, the preserving of memories and the fear of destroying that continuity.

    2. Would I like him, wouldhe like me, would either of us understand why the other became who he is,would either be surprised to learn that each of us had in fact run into anOliver of one sort or another, man or woman, and that we were verypossibly, regardless of who came to stay with us that summer, one and thesame person still?

He's stating that no matter what happened, man or woman he loved, no matter who it was, Elio is still Elio no matter what. Has he finally found the truth that he does not need to condense or simplify himself to reach a substance, an essence? That simply being in his own body is Elio enough to be Elio?

    1. A resource can map to the empty set, which allowsreferences to be made to a concept before any realization ofthat concept exist

This is a very useful but underutilized property. It allows you to e.g. announce in advance that a resource will exist at some point in the future, and thereby effectively receive "updates" to the linking document without requiring changes to the document itself.

    1. Throughout the whole website the colour scheme and theme is consistent. The background colours and photos match the main page and I think that is a good idea. If each page had different colours and random pictures, it may make the website look messy and badly put together. On some of the tabs we see more images of people running, which may be the type of customer they want to attract but it is uncertain.

    1. The IT Equipment Room (MER, SER and DER) guidelines

It is clear that the Equipment_Rooms (MER, SER and DER) are important spaces for a company. Much of the business depends on these spaces. That is why many companies draw up minimal guidelines to ensure continuity.

    1. Is ITIL Losing Importance Due To SaaS? ITIL is a set of procedures and practices of IT service management when we mistakenly believe that we don't have to worry about that in SaaS. However, ITIL has many aspects and facets that encompasses running IT in an organization. Moreover, it is not a checklist for the implementation of specific services in specific environments. For SaaS, we can just use a different toolset to follow the general ITIL guidelines.

    1. Sure. So I do want to start by just reminding listeners that talking about trauma, learning about trauma, can bring up some feelings, which is a very normal reaction to that. So I just want to remind people, if you notice that, that it’s okay to take a rain check on listening and engaging in this conversation. I also do recommend that even if you feel okay to engage with a discussion about trauma that it’s recommended that you do so in small doses, especially during these very challenging times.

This is a lovely way to introduce this topic.

    1. “The day is upon us where we need to strongly consider nurse practitioners and physician assistants as equal in the field,” he says. “We’re going to find a much better continuity of care for all our patients at various institutions with hospital medicine and … a nurse practitioner who is at the top of their license.”

Hospitalists as QB should play leadership role in integrating all members of care team

    1. much has changedin terms of the ways, both instrumental and stylistic, inwhich scientists communicate the results of their research totheir peer communities. However, in the intervening 300-plus years, certain symbolic and rhetorical practices, nota-bly the assertion and defense of authorship, and all thepresumptive rights associated therewith, have remainedcenter stage. In the 17th century, the business of authorship,as the business of science itself, was much less complicatedand contentious than today—which is not to say that prioritydisputes were unheard of, that egos were never bruised, orthat “the bauble fame” did not come into play in earliertimes.

Although a lot has changed, "certain symbolic and rhetorical practices, notably the assertion and defence of authorship, and all the presumptive rights associated therewith, have remained center stage.
