blockheads as a synonym for lubber

This gives new meaning to the use of "blockhead" in Charles Schultz' Peanuts (usually Lucy in reference to Charlie Brown).

Recall Samuel Johnson's (1709-1784) aphorism:

“No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money.”

I had some collections of comic strips in my youth, but sadly didn't keep up the practice or them.

I thought of the same aesthetic as well, in part because it wasn't as "busy" as the comic book page aesthetic.

La novela picaresca es un género literario que nació en España entre el Renacimiento y el Barroco. Este género rompió con la idealización y el sentimentalismo típicos del Renacimiento y se dedicó a satirizar las costumbres de la época y a dejar al descubierto cualidades como la hipocresía, la bajeza moral, el engaño o la miseria.
