Why did Medea pick the gifts she did?
"...crown (plokos) and a robe (peplos)- to kill Creon and his daughter." The article mentions that gifts are not an isolated matter and hold some meaning from the past. "In the case of Medea, the plokos and peplos-gifts given to her by her grandfather, Helios- are implicated in her own genealogy and history with Jason. Standing as symbols of autonomous power that Medea once used to give herself away in marriage." Medea used the items from her marriage to Jason to "punish Jason for his violation of philia."
What is philia? Philia is affectionate love.
